As reported by TheWitcherWiki, the Save Editor for Games for Windows on the PC (Gen. 3), known by the name of WéiZhi’ng.Dll, is in development. As of November 16, 2011, it can run those save files from Games for Windows on the PC (Gen. 2) and Silverlight games (including the Xbox 360 version), but not the Games for Windows on the PC (Gen. 3) save files. It is possible to “play” the file in the Save Editor, but there is no saving feature (in the same way that the Xbox 360’s XMB cannot save games). The Save Editor is currently only available on the PC. In the past, 3rd party tools that allowed for this were completely emulated in the engine, such as for the PC and Xbox 360 versions of Castlevania: Harmony of Despair and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. Although the Save Editor for the Xbox 360 version of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is in development, the Save Editor will require PC functionality for it to be fully functional (e.g., playing, saving, etc.) In addition, the Save Editor will be made available for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 platforms. Games for Windows on the PC (Gen. 3) includes the capabilities for the editor to be natively available on the PC, so as the PC version of WéiZhi’ng.Dll for Games for Windows on the PC (Gen. 3) is developed, the save Editor will be made available for that platform as well. Using the Save Editor will be relatively simple as all that is needed is a.zip file which can be found here. The Save Editor was only available to Windows and Xbox 360 users. PC users have been able to edit saves but it was not free, as it required the registry modifications. With the Windows 10 Creators Update (released on July 29, 2018), the Editor (when released) may be available for free to Windows users. The code for the Save Editor was first released publicly on July 17, 2014 with an initial release of Windows 7 on the PC. The Editor is still not able to save to the XBox 360 and PS3. The Xbox 360 version of the Game Save Editor is available for download at this location. The Game Save Editor is currently in development for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3.
