How to Use Photoshop

Photoshop is an image editing tool that enables users to make creative changes to digital images. Photoshop is available for Mac, Windows, and various platforms and devices, such as phones and tablets.

Creating a Photoshop Project

Photoshop is an integrated tool. Its use is organized in a project. Photoshop projects store all of your assets. A project is a container that contains many files, assets, folders, and layers. The files, assets, and folders in a project are accessed together.

1. Create a New Project. Photoshop opens a new document where you can begin work on an image.

To create a new project, choose File, New.

2. Choose Photoshop Project from the File Type menu.

The New Photoshop Project dialog box appears.

The default name when you create a new project in Photoshop is 1_Photoshop.

4. Enter the file path of your local file.

You must specify the location and name of your local file.

5. Click OK.

The new Photoshop document opens in Photoshop. You can view or edit a local file in Photoshop or access the file through the Dropbox cloud service.

If you are attempting to access a remote file, you must specify the location and name of the remote file.

Adding an Image to a Photoshop Project

You can access and edit your images in Photoshop by opening a local file or by accessing a remote file. The easiest way to access an image is to import it into the current document.

When you open a local or remote file, you automatically open it in the current Photoshop project.

If you wish to open an image in a new Photoshop project, choose File, Open.

The Open dialog box appears.

1. To open an image in the current document, select it from the Dropbox cloud or local file browser window.

2. To open the image in a new project, select it from the drop-down menu, as shown in Figure A.
