A brief sound localization technique based on the brain activity is proposed. The technique based on a prototype consists of a bag for collecting the brain tissue during surgery that provides simultaneous electrical recordings from the brain of different parts. For this reason it can determine the pitch of the subject by monitoring the power spectrum that has been obtained by a fast Fourier transform (FFT). This result can be compared with the pitch of the template signal for which a correlation is computed. The system also provides an easy adjustment of the position of the bag of the patient for collecting the brain tissue.
This project evaluates how well the visual channel is utilized in an environment with a serious need to use less screen space or visual real-estate. The environment is that of a flight simulator cockpit. Since the cockpit is used for other tasks besides flight simulation, it is very important to maximize the visual real estate. An interactive method to use the maximum possible of the screen real estate is also important to the user, as well as the creation of a method where the colors can be replicated in the background with a similar color to the foreground colors.
A Hands-free door lock system that uses a metal fingerprint sensor and builds upon the existing ASWA-2A hardware locking system. The project was originally conceived and designed as a way to have a simple, efficient, and robust system to lock and unlock doors without the need of a key (such as the existing ones). The design builds upon existing hardware, and requires minimal additional parts or hardware. While developing the prototype, the following improvements were noticed:
– The electronic lock was able to be configured to require a small PIN every 3 attempts to unlock. This would require only one fingerprint ID scan (and a PIN) to lock and unlock all the doors in a building.
– The electronic lock should be implemented using existing wiring in the door (if possible)
– The working prototype showed that the locking system worked as expected when used with existing hardware, and gives a simple, safe, and effective
