MuSiCX has an unusually wide usable range for a compressor but this is partly because of its huge number of band divisions. This means you can pre-set all five bands to just the right companding and balance. If, however, you set the bands to completely different values, the compressor can be used on any track, not only a pre-chosen one. It can provide a great amount of control over ‘Dynamic effect’ compression. MuSiCX will automatically select the correct bands at load time. They can be selected in the Effect Wizard in the Audio Chain Tree for the selected track. You can also change this later via the user menu. The centre point of the compressor can be set in the companding menu as well as the gains. So, if you change companding, the gains and the centre point will change too. The compressor will respond slowly to fast changes so it is more likely to be used in the ‘normal’ mode rather than the ‘Tonal & Companding’ mode.
