How can I get rid of the annoying blue pixels at the edge of my image?
(I realized that this is a duplicate of How to fix annoying blue line at the edge of jpg. If you can comment there, I will delete this. If you can’t comment there, my apologies, but comment on the other question and I’ll delete this one as well.)
This is an image that I’ve been trying to fix for days and days without success. I suspect that it is the result of either artifacts from the image when scanned or crappy GIMP processing. A real printing error, if you will. Here is a link to the original file that is available here.
I have tried:
Using different GIMP settings, including ones suggested by this answer.
Using different software, including Pixlr. I used both their free version and their Pro version. The free one didn’t do much, the Pro one made things worse. I suspect that the problems I’ve had are caused by using the Pro version.
I have experimented with software that tries to sharpen the image. Unsharp Mask, Edge Peeling, and the related Bloaty. None of these worked.
I have experimented with Software/Adobe ImageReady. I loaded the image in, and it showed a different, but still undesirable, blue line.
I have experimented with different GIMP versions. 5.2, 6.2, 7.0, and 8.2. All of them made things worse. I also tried the post-processing plug-in, but still no luck.
I’ve tried taking the image in black and white and different coloring modes. Sometimes I get a really cool image, sometimes not.
I can change the color of the blue line to something else, but then the rest of the image gets desaturated and washed out.
I’ve experimented with different levels of sharpening. Sometimes the line goes away, sometimes it doesn’t.
