What happens when you fall out of love? We have your answer. Miasma is a turn-based strategy game where you take on the role of a rebel who must lead a small band of desperate followers through the crumbling city of Po, helping them rebuild their lives and their faith in the free world. As you progress through the different acts of the game, you will find that Vilhelm Industries has laid claim to the mythical ‘Mind Control’ power, and the world is now shrouded in a new political order. But for those citizens who do not blindly follow Vilhelm’s rule, you can lead them to freedom.
Gameplay
Miasma is a turn-based strategy game set in a world torn apart by unrest and a military regime. The game is presented to the player in the form of a journal, showing their dealings with the city of Po. You play as a small group of rebels, tasked with taking control of the great city and leading it to freedom. You will need to decide which of your followers will help the different factions in the city, and which to keep aside for yourself. And you may even encounter an unfamiliar enemy, an evil presence from another world…
Graphics and Sound
Miasma is presented in a hand-drawn style reminiscent of old 8-bit games from the past. The basic gameplay screen is presented with an isometric perspective, and the whole game is rendered using pre-rendered graphics. The voice acting in the game was recorded in Montreal, Canada. The music score was composed in San Francisco, CA.
Completing the game also unlocks the option to listen to the VSI Suite, a collection of forty-five minutes of vocal music created by the composer.
About the Author
Aaron Nelson lives in the USA. During college he played with the idea of creating a turn-based game with a narrative focus. The Miasma project began in a desperate desire to provide that kind of gaming experience, and to entertain as many people as possible through the power of storytelling.
