It’s often easier and more accurate to lay out holes on a boltcircle with x-y coordinates than to scribe and step off the circle, especially if the number of holes is an unusual number.
This simple program was designed to generate a table which you can print and carry to the drill press for reference.

Using a Table:
1. Run Table.xam ➝ Open Table.xam in Xcode
2. ➝ Set the x-axis to whatever number of holes you want to make.
3. ➝ Set the y-axis to be 4 to make four holes on each side of the BOLTCIRC Download With Full Crackle.
4. ➝ Click the button “Generate” (bottom left corner of the Table.xam file).
The program will create a blank Table.xib file and a Table.xam file.
You can also quit the program if you don’t need it anymore.
NOTE:
⚫ The dimensions and values (X, Y) used below are for one side of one hole.
There will be no holes on the other side of the bolt circle so you will need to generate a separate table for each side of the bolt circle.
You can number the rows and columns either by hand or programmatically.

BOLTCIRC is a small VB program for Microsoft Excel which translates the Y coordinate of a 2D point into a location on a bolt circle.

Open the BOLTCIRC.xls file in Excel. In the first column enter the “y-value”. In the second column enter the “x-value”. Type the x-value into the column. While holding down the Ctrl key and pressing “Tab” move the cursor to the next column. Underneath where the x-value was entered, you will see a number. This is the y-value for the x-value that was entered. The y-value represents the appropriate hole location on the bolt circle.

The x-value is never less than zero. If it is entered as zero, the tool assumes it is a part of the last hole. This allows your first hole to be at the center of the circle.

When you’re ready to enter the x-value, you may want to save the file before you do so.

Saves in excel spreadsheet format. To convert a table to a Word document, use the Save As function in Excel.

To use:
Open the BOLTCIRC.xls file.
Read the table for the first time and step the drill to the first location.
The x-value location will appear in the drill press.
Measure the x-value to ensure it is accurate.
Repeat as many times as necessary until you have entered all the x-values.

The table will be the same order as the drill press.

## What’s New In?

An arc is drawn on the sheet of paper with a line width of 1/16″ and with a center point of the center of the “inner-seam” (edge).
A hole is drawn for each hole that was in the middle of the seam.
A step is drawn for each step.
The step length and offset are placed in the table of coordinate points.
If a given point is outside the step length on either axis, then the step is not printed.
The hole is placed in the same coordinate point as the step on the cross-hatch line.
The hole is centered on the x-axis (horizontal) and the y-axis (vertical) of the drawing.
The radius of the hole is calculated from the x- and y-coordinates of the center point of the hole.

Save as “BOLTCIRC”, load into Charts Plus 9.0, click on the Home icon, create a new chart, choose “one-leg”, and choose the “bent Boltcircle” option.

BOLTCIRC Output:

Place the coordinates of the center point of the inner edge of the seam on the grid table.
Place a marker at the center point of the centerline of the inner edge of the seam on the grid table.
Click inside the grid, create a coordinate system, choose the X axis (horizontal), select the center mark on the grid table, and click the OK button.
Create a coordinate system to match the normal coordinate system, set the X axis to match the X axis and center marks on the grid, and select the line from the center point of the centerline of the seam (marked with a blue marker) to the center point of the grid.
Create a coordinate system to match the normal coordinate system, set the Y axis to match the Y axis and center marks on the grid, and select the line from the center point of the centerline of the seam (marked with a blue marker) to the center point of the grid.
Create a coordinate system to match the normal coordinate system, set the Z axis to match the Z axis and center marks on the grid, and select the line from the center point of the centerline of the seam (marked with a blue marker) to the center point of the grid.
Click the X axis and record it (this is the horizontal coordinate of the center point of the hole).
Click the Y axis and record it
