Now that we have learned what the Cleveland Browns did in the NFL Draft last weekend, we can turn our attention to what they did well in the 2016 college draft and ultimately need for the franchise moving forward.
They did well with the first round, taking Myles Garrett, a 5-technique defensive end out of Texas A&M. However, he was the highest-rated player on the Browns’ big board, as well as the second overall pick.
With the eighth overall pick, the Browns selected Jamal Adams, a 6-2, 225-pound safety from LSU. He’s rated as the No. 4 player in the draft.
Here are my 10 best and 10 worst players available for the Browns to select:
Best: Myles Garrett, DE/OLB, Texas A&M
The Browns’ need at defensive end and linebacker is obvious. Of the top-three players projected for Cleveland in the 2016 draft, Garrett was the best player and the best value.
He has a great motor and is great in the pass rush and at blitzing. He is a great run defender and has a knack for getting after the quarterback.
Garrett has the ability to become a very good pass rusher, as well as a solid run stopper.
He has a chance to be a franchise-type player for the Browns.
Garrett is the highest-rated player on the board.
Players to keep an eye on: Sidney Jones, CB, Washington; Christian Wilkins, DT, Clemson; Charles Omenihu, DT, Texas; DeForest Buckner, DL, Oregon.
Worst: Blake Cashman, WR, Minnesota
